TOPEKA ( KSNT ) – People in Topeka will soon be able to take advantage of expanded driver’s license services thanks to a special collaboration between AAA and the Kansas Department of Revenue (KDOR).

The two organizations made the announcement Tuesday, Sept. 3 in a joint press release about the new partnership. This collaboration will bring a remote driver’s licensing unit to AAA’s store in the Capital City. This gives drivers another location to access a variety of licensing services like:

    • Renewing Kansas driver’s licenses and IDs.
    • Issuing new Kansas driver’s licenses and IDs to people moving out of the state.
    • Issuing duplicate licenses and IDs for those who have lost their credentials.
    • Changing of address.
    • Updating name – marriage, court ordered, adoption, etc.
    • Issuing Real ID for people to be federally compliant.

“Our collaboration with organizations like AAA is important as we attempt to reach more Kansans who need to renew their driver’s license or state identification cards,” said David Harper, KDOR Division of Vehicles Director. “This is just another way we have expanded our customer service capabilities outside of requiring our customers to come into our offices.”

Locals can head over to the mobile license unit starting on Sept. 10 at AAA’s Topeka store located at 1223 SW Wanamaker Road. Services will be open to people by appointment on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. You can schedule an appointment by using this link .

“AAA has partnered with motor vehicle divisions and driver’s licensing departments in states across America,” said Rhonda Schwartz, Retail District Director for AAA Club Alliance. “We are pleased to work with the Kansas Department of Revenue to make our Topeka retail store available to expand access to licensing services for a greater number of area consumers. We have been offering this service successfully in our Lawrence and West Wichita AAA stores, and we are happy to expand mobile driver’s licensing to another of our convenient AAA retail locations in an important market in Kansas.”

When will Topeka’s biggest highway road work projects end?
