NEOSHO COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) — Former Neosho County Attorney Linus Thuston pleaded guilty to financial crimes on Wednesday, Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach announced.

A news release from the attorney general’s office said Thuston pleaded guilty to misuse of public funds and a sales tax violation. A conviction of misuse of public funds requires forfeiture of office, which he did on Aug. 13, 2024.

After accepting the pleas, a judge sentenced Thuston to 30 days in jail, followed by 12 months of probation.

Thuston was ordered to pay a $2,500 fine and $617.50 in restitution. As a special condition of probation, he is prohibited from serving in public office and from acting as a fiduciary while on probation.
