LAWRENCE, KS. ( KSNT ) – Kansas football lost its first game of the 2024 season at Illinois, and the Jayhawks weren’t too pleased with their effort.

Rock Chalk Sports Talk radio host Daniel Courtwright came to the K-Nation studio to break down the game. He says blame can’t be placed on just one thing.

“What I saw in the game against Illinois yesterday, not quite everybody firing on all cylinders, especially on the offense,” Courtwright said. “I think the quarterback play, Jalon Daniels might’ve looked a little rusty. I thought the running backs looked really good and the offensive line looked really good. And I feel like they just weren’t playing up to par with kind of how this team could.”

Despite a loss not many fans saw coming, Courtwright doesn’t think people should be writing this team off.

“It’s not the end of the world. It’s a non-conference game. It’s against Illinois. Yeah, of course you want to win that one. Of course, you want to go undefeated and go to the College Football Playoff, but at the same time, you’re not out of it,” Courtwright said.

The full interview with Courtwright can be watched above.
