TOPEKA ( KSNT ) – Kansas transportation authorities will be closing three highway ramps in the Topeka area during overnight hours to complete resurfacing work Tuesday night.

The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) announced in a press release the ramp closures are slated to run from 6 p.m. on Sept. 24 to 6 a.m. on Sept. 25. These will impact drivers on I-70 in the Topeka area at the following ramps:

    • The southbound U.S. 75 exit ramp to westbound I-70. Drivers will be directed to eastbound I-70, then to Gage Boulevard and back onto westbound I-70.
    • The westbound I-70 exit ramp to Fairlawn Road. Drivers will be sent to Wanamaker Road, onto eastbound I-70 and back to Fairlawn Road.
    • The Fairlawn Road entrance ramp onto westbound I-70. A detour will take drivers to eastbound I-70, then to Gage Boulevard and back to westbound I-70.
Why are some corn farm fields left to dry out in Kansas?

Kate Craft with KDOT said a fourth closure is possible for the westbound I-70 exit ramp to Wanamaker Road as well depending on completion of the U.S. 75 and Fairlawn Road exits. A detour for this will take drivers to Auburn Road, back to eastbound I-70 and on to Wanamaker Road.
