EMPORIA ( KSNT ) – The Emporia Police Department (EPD) was notified of a threat made to the Emporia Middle School on Wednesday.

At 7:15 p.m. on Sept. 26, the EPD got a notification that a student had threatened to bring a gun to school. The student was allegedly warning other students not to go to school that day. According to police, the threat was made through email.

The EPD found the student who was making the threats and determined the student didn’t have access to any firearms and that nobody was at risk. The EPD said the case is being referred to the Lyon County Attorney’s Office.
