LYON COUNTY ( KSNT ) – People in need of emergency services in a northeast Kansas county may have to use some older forms of communication to get the help they need Monday amid a nationwide cell outage.

The Lyon County Emergency Communications Center posted to social media on Sept. 30 stating that Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile customers are experiencing outages with their services. Many cell phone users reportedly have no service whatsoever or are stuck in “SOS” mode.

“If you need to contact 911, or our non-emergency number – please attempt to reach us from a land line, or by email at info@lcecc.org (If you are are able).”

Verizon told 27 News it is experiencing a loss of service in numerous locations nationwide. More than 100,000 outages were reported across Verizon’s service area in the U.S. on Sept. 30 at the peak of the issue. A cause for the problem has yet to be identified.
