TOPEKA ( KSNT ) – The City of Topeka has finalized its relocation for the police department’s garage fleet.

The Topeka City Council gave unanimous approval on Tuesday, Oct. 8 to the plan to buy the Mainline Printing Building for $1.6 million. The building is located in south Topeka at 3500 Southwest Topeka Boulevard and is the last remaining structure of the old White Lakes Mall that used to occupy the space.

The Kansas Department of Transportation is also acquiring the parcel adjacent to the building. The current Topeka Police Department facility will be demolished to make way for the large-scale Polk-Quincy Viaduct project on I-70.
