TOPEKA ( KSNT ) – On Friday, the Kansas Wildlife & Parks reminded hunters that the pre-rut whitetail antlerless season starts this weekend.

The pre-rut firearm whitetail antlerless season will run for two days in most Kansas counties. The season will run from Oct. 12 to Oct. 14. For residents of southeast Kansas, hunters in Wilson, Elk, Chautauqua and Montgomery counties can participate in the extended season going from Oct. 15 to Oct. 20.

According to Wildlife & Parks, any permit that allows the harvest of white-tailed antlerless deer will be valid throughout this season. Hunters are required to wear blaze-orange clothing. Hunters must have an orange hat and at least 200 square inches of blaze orange clothing. The clothing must be 100 inches visible from the front and back upper half of the body.

In September, the  U.S. Army Corps of Engineers added restrictions on hunting activities at multiple lakes. These regulations include the topics of baiting, trail/game cameras, night hunting equipment, commercial guiding of hunters and antlerless white-tailed deer limits.
