Yvonne Dicken
She was born September 1 st, 1935 in Emory, Texas to Chet and Odie Fatheree. She graduated valedictorian of her class at Rains High School in 1953 and married George Truett Dicken at age 17 on January 16, 1953 in Sulphur Springs, TX. Yvonne and Truett were long-time dairy farmers in Hopkins County. Yvonne was devoted to her family and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. She will be remembered as a dedicated homemaker, gracious hostess, wonderful cook, talented seamstress, and for being tough and full of spunk. She had a wonderful sense of humor and often made witty comments that were always perfectly timed and gracefully delivered. Yvonne was a long-time and active member of League Street church of Christ. She loved to travel as well as attend TOPS meetings with her close friends.

Michael Gaisbauer
Michael “Mike” Gaisbauer passed away on January 20, 2024, at the age of 69 in Dallas, Texas. He courageously battled complications from a portal vein thrombosis for years. It eventually damaged his liver beyond repair. Throughout his battle he remained active, playing soccer, taking care of home and farm properties, and working with his herd of more than 40 cows.

Unofficial Results of the Hopkins County Texas Runoff Election Have Been Reported
January 30, 2024 – According to the Hopkins County County Clerks Office, as of 9:04pm Tuesday, January 30, 2024, cumulative unofficial results from the Hopkins County, Texas, Special Runoff Election January 30, 2024, for State Representative, District Number 2, Unexpired Term, show that Jill Dutton (R) received 65 Absentee Votes, equaling 52.42% of the votes in that category, with Early Voting results giving her 547 of those votes, or 53.31%, and Election Day Voters giving her 627 votes, or 57.95% of the votes in that category. This unofficially gave Dutton, (R), a total of 1,239 of the votes, or 55.51% of the total votes.

Tom Mack Connor
Military graveside honors for Tom Mack Connor, age 89, of Emory, TX will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Friday, February 2, 2024 at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Texarkana, TX. Tom passed away at home on Saturday, January 27, 2024. Tom was born on July 23rd, 1934 in Winnsboro, TX, the son of Paul Connor and Bessie Rowden Connor. After graduating from High school, Tom attended Texas A & M University and studied engineering. At that time all students were required to join the ROTC program. During the summer, Tom served as an aide to his uncle, Congressman Wright Patman. After graduating in May of 1957 from Texas A & M with his Mechanical Engineering degree, he accepted his commission as 2nd Lieutenant in the US Air Force. Tom married Bonnie Ruth Bishop on August 14, 1957 in Texarkana, TX. Tom’s first duty station was in Stillwater, Oklahoma where he entered and completed the graduate school of Meteorology at Oklahoma State University. His next duty was in St. Claire Michigan as a meteorologist for the Air Force base. He and Bonnie lived there for three years and couldn’t wait to get back to TX. After completing active duty in 1960, Tom and Bonnie moved to Beaumont where Tom was employed by Mobil Refinery for 37 years. During this time, Tom also earned his Professional Engineering license. Upon retirement, Tom and Bonnie moved to their dream ( fishing & hunting)home on Lake Fork in 1994.

Elmer Dean Sinclair, age 86, of Mount Vernon, Texas passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from 12:30-2:00 p.m. and the Funeral Service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with Randy Sinclair officiating. Pallbearers will be Rance Cupp, Bowdrie Cupp, Mark Lester, Justin Burkett, Kylan McElroy, and Colston Taylor. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brancen Cupp, Hagen Cupp, Garrett Cupp, Hunter Burkett, Wyatt Lester, and Andrew McNutt. Interment will be at Bridges Chapel in Mount Pleasant, Texas.
