SSISD Cancels Tuesday Classes, Delayed Start For Wednesday
January 15, 2024 – Superintendent Deana Steeber has cancelled all classes for Tuesday, January 16th in anticipation of the roads still being slick from the winter storm in Hopkins County. In addition, a two-hour delay start time for Wednesday, January 17th has been scheduled.

Based on the current weather forecast, conditions are looking good for the grid. For power lines and power poles, the worst weather combination is freezing precipitation and the strong winds. The possibility for that combination is not forecast until Monday, and there is only a slight chance then.

SSHS Students Named to the Texas All-State Band
Caroline Prickette was recently named to the Texas All-State Band on clarinet. She along with 13 other Wildcat Band members qualified and competed at the Area level on Saturday, Jan 6 at Chapel Hill High School in Tyler. The top students from six regions came together for auditions to be considered for the Texas All-State Band. Our Area (Area C) stretches from Northeast Texas down through the Beaumont and Houston areas. “The best musicians from these parts of the State are some of the best anywhere around. Our record number of Area qualifiers this year was so exciting.” Spencer Emmert, head director.
