Vicki passed away at her home surrounded by her loved ones on Wednesday, March 27, 2024. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and she loved spending time with her family especially those grandkids.

Miller Grove ISD to Host a Wrestling Event April 13th to Help Raise Funds for Their Theatre Department
March 28, 2024 – Miller Grove ISD will host the King of Sports Championship Wrestling Event Saturday, April 13, 2024. Doors open at 6:30pm, Bell time is 7:00pm. General Admission is $10 online, $15 at the gate. Ringside seating is $15 online, or $20 at the door. Carey Gable is VP of operations. Enjoy an evening of entertainment while supporting the Miller Grove ISD Theatre Department. Everyone is welcome.

Ruby was born November 30, 1937 in Sulphur Springs, Texas to Lula Mae Isom and Clovis Lee Isom, Sr. She was the oldest of six children. She left home and moved to Seattle, Washington after graduating from high school. She met and married Dennis David on January 21, 1967. She had two children Derric and DeAndrea, that were born and raised in Seattle. She accepted Christ and was a member of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church for many years.

Memorial Service for Sherman Roy Phelps, age 80, of Winnsboro will be held at 2:00 p.m, Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jeff Harris officiating. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Sherman passed away on March 25, 2024 at East Texas Hospice in Tyler, TX. He was born on March 13, 1944 in Plainview, TX, the son of Edgar Phelps and Gladys Hoff Phelps. Sherman married Diana (Webster) Phelps on December 31, 1965 in Plainview, TX. They moved to Dallas in the late 60’s. Sherman began his career as a carpenter and a landscape contractor. His love for baseball was evident, he adored spending time with his family and always had a crazy sense of humor.

Angela Jean Johnson, age 60, of Sulphur Springs, TX passed away at her home in Sulphur Springs, TX on Sunday, March 24, 2024. Angela Jean Johnson was born in Dallas, TX on November 14, 1963 to Jance Chambliss. Angela was married to Gary Frank Johnson until his passing and then married Van Hall Adams. She was a Nurse Aide for many years. During that time, she met many people who became her life-long friends.
SSISD Plans Final Town Hall Meeting Prior to Early Voting for Bond
March 27, 2024 – Early voting for the May 4th SSISD Bond will open April 22nd and continue through April 30th as SSISD plans to hold their final Town Hall Meeting on April 18th at Sulphur Springs Elementary located at 829 Bell St. in Sulphur Springs. The public meeting will begin at 6pm with an informational presentation followed by a Q&A session and an optional tour of the campus. All eligible voters in the school district’s boundaries are encouraged to attend. Voting day for the $157,150,000 initiative is set for Tuesday May 4, 2024. The projects in the May 2024 bond were recommended by the SSISD Bond Planning Committee following months of evaluation and prioritization. After hearing the Committee’s recommendation, the Board of Trustees voted unanimously to call for this bond.

Barbara Bradley of Sulphur Springs, Texas, at the age of 73 went to her Heavenly home on March 24th, 2024, after an extended battle with health issues. She was born to Sam Kyser Fowler and Mary Louise Atwell Fowler in Crenshaw County, Alabama. She is survived by two sisters, Betty Baum, and Mary Bolding; her children, Melinda (Carl) McDonald and Michael (Jennifer) Barron; her grandchildren Anna Nicole (Pierce) Parker, Kallie (Tyler) Lightbody and Griffin (Elissa) Barron; her great-grandchildren Brooklynn, Adi Jo, Beckham, and Amberleigh. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Sam Jenkins Fowler and Bill Fowler and her sister Joyce Garner.
