Fitzgerald's Now Open in Georgetown Next to 1789 Restaurant

As we enter the Roaring 20's 2.0, is there any place more appropriate to gather than Fitzy's? That's right, Georgetown's legendary bar from the age of "champagne, cocaine, and disco" in the 70s and 80s -- F. Scott's -- is back and reimagined as its savvy sporty older brother, Fitzgerald's, now open in Georgetown next to the neighborhood's famed 1789 Restaurant.

For years, the space languished as an event space connected to the restaurant, but now it has a posh personality all its own, decorated in deep shades of blue and accented with preppy plaids, tweed and velvet pillows, and banquettes of cognac leather. Vintage sports prints look out over intimate, low bistro tables in the main lounge room, while a twelve-seat bar commands the venue's most lively action.

We'd describe it as somewhat more jaunty than Jazz Age, as the new Fitzgerald's doesn't shimmer, glitter, or gimmick to Great Gatsby as one might suggest. It does, instead, lend itself to gaiety in the form of a convivial atmosphere and darn good eats and drinks. (It's also a boon to far-West Georgetowners and those who could never snag a spot at the tiny four-seat bar at 1789!)

As Georgetown reestablishes itself as a cocktail and nightlife destination, “we believe that Fitzgerald’s will be the place to be when you are looking for a sophisticated culinary experience in Georgetown," said David Moran, Area Director of Operations for Clyde’s Restaurant Group, which owns and operates Fitzgerald's.  "Whether you are looking to just drop in for an early evening drink and a light bite, want to make a full night out of it, or looking for the perfect place for a nightcap, “Fitzy’s” will be the perfect spot."

Standouts on Executive Chef Kyoo Eom's menu include Korean Chicken Wings, Ricotta Gnocchi, and the Peking Duck Burger, with General Manager and Beverage Director Brian Zipin offering too many delicious classic, craft, and alcohol-free cocktails to rave about... though it should be noted that the selection of Japanese whiskeys is exceptional and patrons also have access to the extensive wine list of 1789 next door.

Fitzgerald's is open Wednesday through Sunday from 5pm to close.
