Known as 'Fiestas Patrias', the Peruvian Independence holiday is celebrated on July 28th and usually lasts for a full two days.

Folk music, patriotic parades and processionals, costumes, and merriment are to be expected, as is a festival of food!

While DC has a number of excellent Peruvian (and Peruvian-fusion) establishments, here are three favorites that are hosting Independence Day festivities this year. So go feast and fiesta! (And give the alpacas some love!)

    Pisco y Nazca Ceviche Gastrobar

To celebrate in 2021, Pisco y Nazca in Dupont is celebrating Peru's independence by offering $7 pisco sours and chilcanos all day long. There will be chaufa on the patio, Hora Loca (Happy Hour), and one lucky winner will go home with a special $50 gift certificate from a raffle!

    Inca Social

Northern Virginia's Inca Social is actually celebrating all month long with a three-course Tour de Peru dinner menu that highlights some of Inca's signature dishes (including their famous ceviche). $38.50/person, $43.50 with a cocktail

On Peruvian Independence Day, guests will enjoy FREE Leche de Tigre shots and $5 Chilcanos all day. Plus, you won't want to miss the restaurant's live music and llamas starting at 7 PM!

    Peruvian Brothers

As “Gastro-Diplomats” and official Marca Perú and Avocado of Peru Ambassadors, the Peruvian Brothers and their multiple locations are sure to be celebrating Peru in grand style -- as well as with sandwiches! Partnering with Sanabria & Associates in 2021 for Peru's Bicentennial Independence Day, they will be giving away 200 Peruvian Brothers sandwiches. ⁣200 years! 200 sandwiches!

Also, be sure to taste any of the Brothers' recipes passed down in the Lanzone family as well as Chef Mario’s own original spins on traditional Peruvian favorites.
