New TASD Superintendent says his goals are to listen, learn, and lean into the work

TEXARKANA, Ark. ( KTAL/KMSS )—The Texarkana, Arkansas School District, hosted a meet-and-greet on Tuesday for Dr. Lloyd Jackson, the district’s new superintendent.

Doctor Jackson says he wanted to hear about the issues families care about most.

“What is weighing on their hearts? What are some major challenges they may see? I would love to see our district do this or that,” says Dr. Jackson.

He also wanted to share his goals for his first 100 days in office, which revolve around listening…

“So listening to what things that the system is doing well. What things do we need to improve upon.” says Dr. Jackson.

Learning…

“So I’m digging into the data, looking at our systems understanding again, how do we do the work we’re doing and where are we efficient and where we may need some different approaches to different things,” says Dr. Jackson.

And leaning into the work…

“Creating that plan to move forward for the next 3 to 5 years and then saying, what is it that we need to do to prioritize this work?” says Dr. Jackson.

He says it is important for all community members to feel that they have a stake in the school system’s success.

“This is everyone’s future while you may or may not have students in our system. The folks who are graduating from our system will go into the workforce. And so we want your input on what we can do to better impact the workforce that is coming out of the Texarkana, Arkansas School District. So each of us have a part to play and I want to engage all of us in that conversation,” says Dr. Jackson.
