Volunteers needed to help cleanup Texarkana community

TEXARKANA, Ark. ( KTAL/KMSS ) — There is a community wide clean up taking place in Texarkana Arkansas on Saturday morning.

The goal is to have 25 teams of volunteers targeting all 6 Wards across the city. Trash bags, gloves, and safety vests will be provided. Plus Volunteers will be able to take home a custom t-shirt.

The Parks and Rec Department is partnering with Keep Arkansas Beautiful as part of the the 2024 Great Arkansas Cleanup, as well as Mount Grove Baptists Church and The Provider’s House Church.

They are hoping to not only clear litter but also help connect people with their community.

“We want to just do something in order to get that connection back with our fellow neighbors being able to come and fellowship with them and talk about different issues and just working together because there’s nothing like you being able to see someone side by side getting their hands dirty just like you are to make our community better.” says Tendra Washington with Texarkana, Ar Parks and Rec.

Volunteers will meet at the parks and rec building on legion drive at 7 a.m. and will work until noon. They will serve a continental breakfast there before getting started.
