    Cuties plant evacuated minutes after 5.2 quake in Kern County

    A Cuties produce plant in Bakersfield was evacuated moments after a 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck in Kern County Tuesday night.

    The hazmat situation regarding a strong smell of ammonia at the plant was reported around 9:15 p.m., just six minutes after the quake struck about 19 miles away .

    The workers were evacuated as emergency crews responded to the call.

    Video showed dozens of people standing and sitting outside the plant amid a large response from the Kern County Fire Department.

    Officials could not confirm if the ammonia leak was connected to the earthquake.

    No injuries were reported in the incident.
