The FBI is offering a large reward for information that leads to the arrest of those responsible for shooting and killing an innocent bystander at a Compton pool party earlier this year.
Robert Abdelkader III was shot on the evening of June 7 during a party on the 800 block of East Greenleaf Boulevard.
The 28-year-old was described by loved ones as a business owner who was catering the party of 200-to-300 people when shots rang out.
Abdelkader was pronounced dead at the scene. Five other people, two men and three women, were also wounded in the shooting.
On Monday, the FBI announced it was offering a $20,000 reward for information that led to the arrest of the person or people responsible for the violent shooting.
Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said at the time that there were several shooters involved and Abdelkader was an innocent bystander. Investigators also said they believed there were several witnesses who may know the suspects’ identities.
During a June press conference , Inez Adkins, Abdelkader’s mother, pleaded to the public for information that could bring those responsible to justice.
“Help me get a killer off the streets,” Adkins said. “Because next time, they may kill again and it could be your son. It might be your brother, cousin, uncle or dad. I’m begging, if you have video, if you know the person or their whereabouts, please call any local police officer and share the information.”
In the weeks that followed his death, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors put up its own $20,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of Abdelkader’s killer.
Anyone with information related to the deadly shooting is urged to contact the FBI Field Office in Los Angeles at 310-477-6565, or the LASD Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
Tips can also be provided on the FBI website , or at any local FBI field office or American Embassy.
