    Here’s a look at what’s new with iPhone 16

At Apple’s biggest event of the year, the tech giant unveiled various new products, including new iPhones, AirPods, and Apple Watches.

    AirPods: Tiny Powerhouses

Apple announced that AirPods are the best-selling headphones in the world. The new AirPods 4 are remarkably small. Both the case and the earbuds themselves are more compact than ever. The AirPods 4 are $129; if you want active noise cancellation, they are $179.

In a groundbreaking move, the top-of-the-line AirPods Pro 2 will now double as hearing aids. Apple is including a hearing test in the Health App that users can take in the comfort of their home, and then it will adjust the frequencies on the AirPods to help you hear better.

Apple pointed out that these are clinical-grade, meaning they are just as effective as hearing aids you might pay a lot more for. This feature is coming soon, pending expected approval.

Apple Watch: Thinner, Brighter, and More Capable

The new Apple Watch Series 10 is thinner and has a brighter screen at various angles. This is handy for checking your watch while working out.

One neat new feature: you can now listen to audio, such as music and podcasts, directly from the included speaker.

Apple’s recent Watch Series 8, 9 and Ultra 2 models will now be able to detect sleep apnea. Again, this is coming in a future software update.

And for outdoor enthusiasts, a new Tides app displays surf conditions.

As for the Apple Watch Ultra 2, it now comes in a sleek Titanium Black color. It’s pretty awesome looking.

iPhone 16: Bigger, Better, and AI-Ready

The iPhone 16 lineup has new processors designed to handle upcoming AI features. The iPhone 16 models come in black, white, pink, teal, and ultramarine. I think this is where Apple got the “Glowtime” moniker for the event, since these are some of the brightest phones Apple’s offered in a while.

The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models have the largest screens ever on an iPhone – 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches. They feel just slightly bigger in hand – Apple stretched the screen further out to the edges.

There are some changes across the lineup. The Action Button, previously exclusive to Pro models, now expands to both regular and Pro versions.

There’s also a new “Camera Control” (don’t call it a button!) that is now on all of the new iPhone 16 models. This is a touch-sensitive area that instantly launches the camera and serves as a shutter button. You can also double-tap or press the lighter to access additional functions like video recording and zoom. I think this is going to take some getting used to.

The good news this time around: there are no price increases. The iPhone 16 starts at $800, the 16 Plus is $900, the Pro models start at $1000.

“We’re in front of what I believe is going to be a paradigm shift in terms of how consumers use these devices. It’s going to create, I think, a big swell of business for Apple in the next one to two, three years plus,” commented tech analyst Gene Munster.
