The newest member of “Selling Sunset” is making some curious claims in Season 8 of the Netflix reality series.

The Oppenheim Group’s agent Alanna Gold is claiming she owns “a little Western town in the desert” called Pioneertown.

“I’m (the) sheriff of the town, yeehaw!” she tells her costar in a clip.

She spoke further about this to People .

“In 2020, when we learned that a large portion of Pioneertown was for sale, we saw an incredible opportunity not only to strengthen our ties to the community but also to preserve a piece of history,” she explained. “Together with our remarkable partner, David Corso, we founded Pioneertown Land Management with a mission to restore Pioneertown to its original vision and purpose. We are fortunate to have the support of investor Gary Friedman, who shares our passion for this project.”

On Monday, the Pioneer Gazette released a statement slamming claims that Gold owns the whole town and are now asking for an apology.

“‘Selling Sunset’s Alanna Gold does not ‘own Pioneertown,'” the post on Instagram read.

The post also included a statement from the residents of the unincorporated community in the High Desert within San Bernardino County.

“The people of Pioneertown kindly request an apology from ‘Selling Sunset’ and Alanna Gold,” the statement’s headline reads.

“The baseless claims by ‘Selling Sunset’s’ Alanna Gold that she ‘owns Pioneertown’ undermines 78 years of internationally celebrated film, arts and cultural history,” the statement continued. “These claims belittle generations of artists, neighbors, nature lovers, community members, musicians, small business owners and otherwise magnificent people of Pioneertown.”

The statement then continued to explain that the “mile-square census-designated community” consists of “400 residents” and that it’s “privately owned by more than 100 independent parties.”

The town says Gold has a “small minority non-controlling interest in an entity that owns six of 35 parcels in the Mane Street area, constituting less than 1% of Pioneertown’s total 640 acres.”

“The claim that she owns the ‘entire town’ is verifiably false,” the statement ended.

On Tuesday, Gold ended up apologizing.

“I want to reach out to personally say I am so deeply sorry for the confusion I have caused,” she said in a statement via People . “I certainly do not own Pioneertown, I never should have said that and I apologize for doing so. I want you to know that I did not mean any harm, I absolutely love Pioneertown and I simply got too excited talking about it.”

“We wanted to become part of the community, so we invested in a home and other properties there,” she continued. “Again, I am so sorry to the people of Pioneertown, I would never want to disrespect the town’s history or any of the people who make it such a wonderful place.”

Pioneertown was established in 1946 by 17 investors, according to its website .

The 1880s-themed Western town was developed as a place for those in the film industry to “work and play with friends, family and co-workers.” The town is used as a “filming location, vacation destination and permanent residence for people working in the entertainment industry, ranchers and desert lovers alike.”

Season 8 of “Selling Sunset” is currently streaming on Netflix.
