Odds are, you know at least one type of person on this list.

A survey conducted by job recruitment service Monster.com as part of their 2024 Work Watch Report polled thousands of Americans nationwide to gain insight on the latest workplace trends.

Included in their report is a section titled “Bring Your Manners to Work,” which found that almost 70% of workers would consider leaving their job if their employer did not have policies in place around workplace etiquette.

Nearly a third of those surveyed said that they don’t feel that their workplace is a respectful environment where manners are valued.

But what are the manners that matter most?

The answer to that (in order from least rude to most rude): consistent tardiness, unresponsiveness to messages, using inappropriate language, gossiping and not cleaning up after oneself.

Here’s why retro gaming is hot again

Researchers went a step further and asked survey participants how their perception of their colleagues who didn’t have good workplace etiquette would be impacted.

They found that most people thought less highly of their rude colleagues and would be less likely to collaborate with them. What’s more, 18% of respondents said they would “actively try to avoid [their rude colleague]” whenever possible.

Unfortunately, KTLA is not immune to some of these behaviors; one clear case was on Monday morning when producers in the control room found a dental floss pick.

While it was initially unknown whether the dental pick was used, producer Taylor confirmed to Frank Buckley and Jessica Holmes that it was in fact used.

It is not known who left it there, but whoever did better hope they don’t like to gossip, cuss or be late to meetings, because they may already be in hot water with the rest of the office.
