Officials have released the necropsy report on a mountain lion that attacked and tried to drag off a 5-year-old boy at a park in Calabasas earlier this month.

The terrifying incident occurred as a family from Woodland Hills was picnicking at Malibu Creek State Park on Sept. 1.

The big cat was later found in a tree and euthanized by wildlife officials, who said they had no choice but to put the animal down .

The results of a necropsy performed on the mountain lion revealed it was a female about one-year-old.

The report also found that the mountain lion had nothing in its stomach on the day that it acted aggressively.

The lion sprung from the bushes during the family’s Labor Day weekend picnic but was stopped by the boy’s father as it was trying to drag the child away.

The boy is back at home recovering from injuries.

we have taken away where they can live we have poisoned their animals they would eat rats mice birds whatever they would live in. with fires and lack of land they are driven into communities and they are killed before they ever get to reproduce. we have limited mountain lions they are killed tok by cars seriously you can so a picnic somewhere else but a state park where you know there are coyotes mountain lions bears etc seriously you bring food out that they can smell fir miles abd surprised this happened shame on this family and the way we all have caused this to happen to these big animals.

poor mountain lion... most people who live in mountain lion territory realize that WE have encroached upon THEIR land... We also live amongst coyotes who were and still are all over this area, too. We always have to be aware of that. WE are the outsiders.
