A double homicide suspect was found dead after barricading himself in a Long Beach home on Monday.

SWAT team members and assisting officers had the house surrounded and attempted to contact the man for over five hours after he fled the scene of a shooting that killed two people.

A family member told KTLA’s Mary Beth McDade that the victims were his cousin and his uncle, and that the suspect was the father of his cousin’s child.

Long Beach Police said officers responded to the 300 block of East 63rd Street after receiving a report of a shooting around 11:15 a.m.

At the scene, officers found one woman with gunshot wounds to her upper torso and a man with unknown injuries.

The man died at the scene, and first responders with Long Beach Fire took the woman to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The standoff started when officers tracked down the suspect, an adult man, after he fled into a nearby residence.

Sky5 reported seeing medical personnel enter and leave the house empty-handed around 5 p.m.

Authorities confirmed later that officers entered the home to find the suspect dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

    The investigation is underway.
