A double homicide suspect barricaded himself in a Long Beach home after a shooting Monday morning that killed two people.

SWAT team members and assisting officers had the house surrounded and attempted to contact the man for over five hours. Sky5 reported seeing medical personnel enter and leave the house empty-handed around 5 p.m.

Long Beach Police said officers responded to the 300 block of East 63rd Street after receiving a report of a shooting around 11:15 a.m.

At the scene, officers found one woman with gunshot wounds to her upper body and a man with unknown injuries.

The man died at the scene, and first responders with Long Beach Fire took the woman to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The standoff started when officers tracked down the suspect, an adult man, after he fled into a nearby residence.

    The investigation is underway.
