    No suspect in custody after barricade situation in downtown Los Angeles

    Authorities were unable to locate an alleged murder suspect after he barricaded himself inside an apartment in downtown Los Angeles for hours.

    According to preliminary reports from the Los Angeles Police Department, the reporting party recognized the wanted suspect and called police just after 1:20 a.m. Tuesday.

    When police responded to the scene, located in the 300 block of 5 th Street near Wall Street, the man reportedly answered the door and then slammed it shut upon officers identifying themselves.

    A perimeter was set up and the SWAT Team was called in, as the suspect was believed to be armed.

    As of 6:45 a.m., it appeared the suspect remained barricaded; however, LAPD later confirmed that after deploying tear gas into the unit in an attempt to get the suspect out, the suspect was not located inside.

    It is not known when or how the man managed to slip away. His identity has not been released, and no further information was disclosed.
