Police announced Tuesday that they’ve been notified of a social media post spreading in Burbank about a perceived school threat.

The Burbank Police Department did not provide details about the threat but said the same message has been circulating in neighboring school districts and is not directed at a specific school.

“The Department has been in communication with the Burbank Unified School District and will continue to monitor this situation throughout the day,” the police department stated in a news release Tuesday.

Authorities said that there was no evidence to suggest that the threat was credible.

“The Burbank Police Department is committed to helping in providing a safe and secure environment in and around school campuses in the City of Burbank,” the news release stated.

Police also reminded the community that threats directed toward a school are a crime and anyone suspected of orchestrating such a threat will be held accountable for their actions.
