The final week of summer is expected to be a wet one, with a chance of showers in the forecast for Thursday and Friday.

A low-pressure system will move through the area later this week with the best chance of rain arriving on Friday, KTLA Meteorologist Henry DiCarlo said. “We will broad-brush the area with spotty showers.”

Below-average temperatures also continue through the rest of the week with a chance of light rain or drizzle first arriving early Thursday. “Rainfall amounts if any will be under .05 inches,” the National Weather Service stated.

Forecasters said the system doesn’t have much moisture to work with but increased the chance of measurable rain, and even thunderstorms, for Friday.

“So, it’s a cool end-of-the-week forecast and then a rapid warmup,” Henry said.

The first day of fall begins on Sunday but will feel a lot like summer is returning.

Afternoon highs in the San Fernando Valley will increase roughly 25 degrees from a high of around 73 on Thursday to 99 on Monday.

“It’s typically the case for the first month of any season, where we go back and forth a little bit,” Henry said.
