Five California restaurants are among the best restaurants to dine at, according to the New York Times.

The publication released its annual best restaurants list on Tuesday. Two Los Angeles-based restaurants, Camélia and Azizam, were named on the list in addition to San Francisco’s Four Kings and Quince restaurants. Alameda’s barbecue restaurant Fiskue also made the list.

All five California restaurants were new to the list.

The Times highlighted Camélia’s Croque-Madame, layered with ham katsu, gruyère, mornay sauce, Estevan’s shokupan and cornichons, as a “thoughtfully composed thrill.” Camélia is a French Japanese bistro based in the Arts District in downtown Los Angeles.

When it came to Azizam , an Iranian restaurant based in Silver Lake, the Times said its ash-e-jo, a hearty soup of barley, beans, mixed grain, fermented wheat, mint oil, and fried onions, “tastes like home no matter where you are from.”
