    Police searching for thief who stole classic Chevy Corvette in West L.A.

    Police are searching for a thief who escaped with a classic Chevrolet Corvette in West Los Angeles.

    The theft occurred on Sept. 4 in the parking garage of a commercial building on the 12200 block of West Olympic Boulevard, according to Los Angeles police.

    At around 8:40 p.m., the male suspect entered the underground garage and spotted the parked Corvette. The doors were unlocked which allowed him to quickly enter and drive the car away.

    The suspect is described as a white man between 25 to 30 years old. He stands around 6 feet tall and was last seen wearing a gray t-shirt, dark shorts, gray/white shoes and a black backpack. He was also seen carrying a skateboard.

    The stolen vehicle is a light blue 1958 Chevrolet Corvette with Rhode Island license plate number 1KJ358.

    Detectives have released images of the man captured by surveillance cameras hoping someone may recognize him.

    Anyone with information is urged to call LAPD Auto Detectives at 310-444-1503. The public can also call the LAPD at 1-877-527-3247.
