Authorities in the Inland Empire have arrested two men believed to have committed dozens of commercial robberies throughout Southern California.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department , deputies first began investigating an “afterhours burglary” of a business in Bloomington on Sept. 1.

In that instance, two suspects forced their way inside by prying open a metal security screen and smashing the front door. They stole lottery tickets, alcohol and cigarettes before fleeing the scene in a dark gray Tesla, SBSD said.

Deputies continued to respond to other burglaries in the Bloomington area involving the same suspects and vehicle in the following days; each time, the pair stole cash, lottery tickets, high-end alcohol, registers and ATM machines.

During the course of their investigation, deputies identified the suspects as Marvin Tyrone Denson, 21, and Justice Clayton, 23, both of Los Angeles.

“As Fontana Station investigators were looking into the series of burglaries, they learned [the suspects] were involved in numerous other burglaries in Victor Valley, Chino Hills, Rancho Cucamonga, Highland, Colton and Ontario,” SBSD said in a media release, adding that the two were also linked to commercial burglaries in Los Angeles and Riverside counties.  “Fontana Station investigators worked closely with several outside law enforcement agencies whose jurisdictions were believed to be impacted by similar burglary incidents.”

Arrest warrants were obtained for Denson and Clayton and search warrants were authored for three residences associated with the pair, one in Victorville and two in L.A, all of which were served without incident, SBSD said.

“The search warrants led to the discovery of numerous license plates, reciprocating saws, sledgehammers and pry tools suspected to have been used in the commission of the crimes,” deputies stated.  “Large quantities of U.S. currency, two semi-automatic rifles – one of which was reported stolen from Victorville – an AR-15, a 9mm handgun, suspected stolen [goods] and the Tesla used in the crimes were also discovered.”

Denson and Clayton were both booked into the West Valley Detention Center for burglary, conspiracy and committing felony while on bail.

Inmate search records indicate Denson is being held on $50,000 bail with his first court appearance set for Wednesday.

Clayton, whose first court appearance is also Wednesday, is being held on no bail, according to inmate search records.
