The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department announced an investigation this week into the death of an inmate who was found unresponsive in a San Bernardino County jail Tuesday.

The unidentified inmate was spotted in his housing unit shortly before 8:30 p.m. at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, officials stated Wednesday.

Deputies assisted medical personnel at the facility in providing medical aid until Rancho Cucamonga Fire Department and AMR ambulance company responders arrived.

“Despite life-saving measures, the male was pronounced deceased,” the Sheriff’s Department stated.

The Department’s Specialized Investigations Bureau has assumed the investigation.

“No signs of foul play were detected during the initial investigation,” the Sheriff’s Department stated.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the inmate’s cause of death.

Authorities said they were withholding the inmate’s identity until family members could be notified.

Could be because the police don’t care and don’t get the medical aid these people need maybe it could have been prevented just saying I know the way the jail works it’s on the police time not the inmates time their bodies could need the help faster and police just don’t care all they are there for us the money
