Changes are coming to the Downtown Disney Lego Store as work continues to revamp the outdoor shopping and dining destination.

Disneyland officials confirmed to KTLA that the work has begun on a refreshed space for the Lego Store. The store temporarily closed on Monday and construction will be completed in phases.

The store is expected to reopen later this fall amid construction, according to Disneyland officials. Details on the changes coming to the store will be shared in the coming months.

The Lego Store is one of the few original tenants from 2001 when Downtown Disney officially opened.

The store underwent a major renovation in 2012, which saw the addition of the fire-breathing Maleficent dragon on the rooftop and characters from “Toy Story” and “Beauty and the Beast” stationed out front.

Inside the store, a second level, which serves as a playroom, event room and meeting space, was also added, according to the Orange County Register.

An updated Lego Store isn’t the only new addition to Downtown Disney. The theme park resort has teased more retail and dining locations are in the works.
