    2025 Met Gala theme revealed; LeBron James among co-chairs

    The Metropolitan Museum Art has announced the theme for the 2025 Met Gala, formally called the Costume Institute Benefit.

    The annual spring event’s theme will be “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” according to Vogue . It was inspired by Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book “Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.”

    Anna Wintour, Vogue’s editor, oversees the gala and also serves as the event’s co-chair.

    “The exhibit will explore the indelible style of Black men in the context of dandyism, from the 18th century through present day,” the outlet explained in a post to Instagram .

    The exact dress code for the gala will be revealed closer to the event.

    Pharrell Williams, Lewis Hamilton, Colman Domingo, A$AP Rocky and LeBron James have been appointed as the event’s celebrity co-chairs. For the first time in Met Gala history, all of the co-chairs will be Black men.

    The Met Gala takes place on May 5, 2025, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The event provides the Costume Institute with its primary source of funding for all activities.

    The exhibit, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” will run from May 10 to October 26, 2025.
