Police in Orange County are asking for the public’s help to locate two men who allegedly stole thousands of dollars’ worth of jewelry from a woman by convincing her the items were fake.

The men approached the victim at her residence, telling the woman they were looking to buy fake jewelry, according to the Santa Ana Police Department.

One of the suspects “gained entry” into the woman’s home and convinced her that a gold ring and necklace she owned were actually fake.

The men then fled the area on foot with the jewelry, and were last seen in the area of Bristol Street and Warner Avenue.

They’ve been described as two Hispanic men, one wearing a white and black shirt, and the other, who was wearing a white and pink plaid long-sleeve shirt and jeans. Both were wearing straw hats, police said.

Police did not say if the two men paid for the items at a reduced price because of the fake jewelry claims, or if they were able to convince the woman to hand the items over willingly without payment.

Anyone with information about the suspects is urged to contact SAPD detective V. Hernandez by email or by calling 714-245-8372.
