Police are searching for a driver who killed a pedestrian in a hit-and-run crash in Santa Ana.

The victim was identified as Mario Alberto Romero, 42, of Rowland Heights, according to the Santa Ana Police Department.

On Oct. 7, Romero was walking at the intersection of Warner Avenue and Fairview Street at around 7:21 p.m.

As he crossed the road westbound on Fairview Street, an oncoming vehicle driving southbound struck the man.

The suspect driver, in a dark-colored sedan, immediately drove away and did not stop to help the injured pedestrian.

Nearby witnesses called the police and remained with Romero. Despite life-saving measures, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect remains at large. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call Detective Corporal Carrillo at 714-245-8208 or Santa Ana Police’s Traffic Division at 714-245-8200.
