Long Beach police detectives have made several arrests in connection with multiple robberies of minors that took place in May under similar circumstances.

During each incident, the suspects approached the victims, forcefully snatched necklaces from their necks and fled in a getaway vehicle, police said.

One robbery occurred on May 17 near Harco Street and Los Coyotes Diagonal, and the others took place on May 30 at various locations, including two on Spring Street and a third near the intersection of Studebaker Road and Keynote Street.

A tip from a community member after the first robbery eventually helped detectives link the cases and identify the suspects, who were later arrested in separate locations.

Marissa Maxie, a 21-year-old from Carson, was arrested on August 13 and booked for two counts of robbery and conspiracy.

Two 17-year-old male suspects were also arrested: one in Lakewood on Sept. 10 and the other in Long Beach on Oct. 3.

The two teens face six and five counts, respectively, for robbery.

“Robbery detectives canvassed and collected video evidence, contacted community members, and followed all investigative leads to take the suspects into custody,” police said.

The Long Beach Police Department expressed its gratitude to Long Beach Unified School Safety personnel for their help in apprehending the juvenile suspects.

Anyone with information is urged to contact robbery detectives at 562-570-7464 or submit tips anonymously through LA Crime Stoppers .
