    Wrong-way driver arrested after hit-and-run crash on Pacific Coast Highway

    A person was arrested after driving on the wrong side of Pacific Coast Highway and fleeing the scene of a head-on collision, according to authorities.

    In a post to social media , the Hermosa Beach Police Department said the incident was reported at about 6:55 p.m. Friday night in the area of PCH and 5th Street. A driver was headed down PCH on the wrong side of traffic, police said, and collided head-on with another vehicle.

    The motorist who was hit was treated at the scene by medical professionals and was expected to survive.

    Meanwhile, the suspect fled the scene on foot after the collision and was spotted hopping a fence into a nearby yard.

    About three hours following the crash, an officer with the Hermosa Beach PD spotted a man walking down PCH while covered in blood. That man was determined to be the suspect.

    The suspect, who remains unidentified publicly as of Sunday morning, was transported to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries.

    According to police, the man is likely to face multiple felony charges.
