    DUI suspect arrested after pursuit reportedly lasting two blocks in San Fernando Valley

    A man suspected of driving under the influence was arrested after a very brief pursuit early Monday morning.

    Preliminary information indicates that Los Angeles Police Department officers began pursuing the suspect somewhere in the San Fernando Valley. The exact location and time the pursuit started were not immediately known.

    During the chase, which reportedly lasted just minutes and covered two city blocks, the driver was said to have struck a light pole in the center divider, disabling his vehicle near the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and Devonshire Street in Mission Hills around 12:30 a.m.

    Video from the scene obtained by KTLA shows the driver on the ground with his hands up as officers with guns drawn move in to take him into custody. The man’s car, a black Kia sedan, sustained heavy damage to its front right side because of the collision.

    The man was taken to a nearby hospital after the crash and subsequently arrested.

    His identity was not released.
