Glen Powell took the field during halftime at the University of Georgia’s game against Mississippi State on Saturday, while filming his upcoming comedy series “Chad Powers.”

The “Twisters” star, 35, was wearing a wig and a football uniform in character as Chad Powers when he made a surprise appearance at Sanford Stadium on Saturday.

Videos shared by TikTok user @evaemcneill show Powers running onto the field with a fictitious team wearing blue and white as the crowd boos. According to another video shared by TikTok user @ hanevegeorge , the crowd was instructed to boo as the actors took the field.

The series from Powell and Michael Waldron is based on the Chad Powers character created by Eli Manning for his ESPN+ docuseries “Eli’s Places.” The former New York Giants quarterback donned a disguise, including a wig and prosthetic makeup, to participate in Penn State’s walk-on football tryouts.

“We’re both diehard college football fans. When we saw Eli as Chad Powers, we knew that was the way into a big, fun story about this world,” Powell and Waldron said in a joint statement when the series was announced in February. “We’re excited to be part of this team, and can’t wait to get Chad in the game. Think fast, run fast.”

Powell and Waldron co-created the series and co-wrote the pilot. Powell previously co-wrote the romantic comedy “Hit Man” alongside director Richard Linklater, and also starred in the film. Powell and Waldron will executive produce “Chad Powers” alongside Eli Manning and his brother, Peyton Manning, through Payton Manning’s Omaha Productions.

“When bad behavior nukes hotshot QB Russ Holliday’s college career, he disguises himself and walks onto a struggling southern football team as the talented, affable Chad Powers,” the show’s official logline reads.

“The love for Chad Powers has surprised me in spectacular ways,” said Eli Manning. “I played 16 years in the NFL, but now when I’m in a restaurant or walking through an airport, it’s not uncommon for fans to scream, ‘Hey Chad!’ I’m so excited to team up with my friends Glen Powell, Michael Waldron and Omaha Productions to continue to tell the Chad Powers story and see what he does next.”

“Chad Powers,” which will air on Hulu, does not yet have a release date set.
