Five teenage girls were sickened, three of whom needed to be hospitalized, after consuming what authorities suspect were cannabis edibles at Nobel Charter Middle School in Northridge on Monday.

Details are limited and it’s unclear how the edibles came into the group’s possession, but all patients were conscious and breathing according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Three girls were taken in fair condition to an area hospital, and the other two were released to parents and guardians at the scene.

Paramedics have dealt with an increasing number of cannabis overdoses at Southern California middle schools in recent years.

At least 8 teens were hospitalized just a few months ago after taking weed edibles on a school trip to the La Brea Tar Pits.

In addition, almost exactly a year ago, THC gummies were found in a candy stash at a Halloween event held at an elementary school and made one student sick.
