The eastbound 10 Freeway reopened after being closed for several hours through the Santa Monica area when a fire erupted Wednesday morning.

The freeway was initially closed in both directions between the McClure Tunnel and 20th Street due to the fire, the City of Santa Monica stated in a news alert around 7:45 a.m.

Lincoln Boulevard was also closed in both directions at Olympic Boulevard.

The California Highway Patrol later issued a SigAlert indicating that all eastbound lanes would remain closed around 8:30 a.m.

The closure was lifted and the freeway was reopened by 10:30 a.m.

No information regarding a possible cause of the fire has been released.

I’m sure they have NO IDEA how a fire started.
