The California Highway Patrol is turning to the public for help in identifying the driver of a pickup truck involved in a fatal collision with a motorcyclist in August.

The hit-and-run occurred on the westbound span of the 91 Freeway near Gypsum Canyon Road in Yorba Linda on Aug. 30 around 11 p.m., the CHP said in a statement issued Wednesday.

Responding officers from the Santa Ana station arrived on scene and located the deceased man lying in the No. 2 lane of the freeway next to his blue and green Kawasaki Ninja 500 motorcycle, which had sustained major damage.

“Investigators believe that a white Chevrolet Silverado may have been involved in the crash before fleeing the scene in a westbound direction,” officials said. “It is believed the Chevrolet sustained moderate damage to the right-front portion of the vehicle.”
