Iconic Southern California diner chain Norms is rolling the dice and taking a leap, opening its first restaurant outside of California in its 75-year history.

Norms Restaurants announced Monday it would be holding a grand opening ceremony for its new location in Las Vegas on Nov. 9, its 24th current location and its first in Nevada.

The new Norms will be located on 4605 W. Charleston Blvd., just a short drive from the Vegas Strip. Restaurant officials hope that it will become Sin City’s go-to destination for 24-hour dining.

Norms has been slinging its signature hotcakes in the Los Angeles area for 75 years now, with its first location located in Hollywood at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Vine Street. Rather than pancakes, Norms claims its hotcakes are “fluffier, tastier and better.”

To celebrate the arrival of the beloved SoCal diner arriving in Vegas, Norms will be hosting a slew of grand opening events, including a ribbon cutting with city leaders and a hotcake eating contest to introduce Nevada to the California breakfast staple.

The first-ever Hotcake Eating Championship is sanctioned by Major League Eating, the organizing body that oversees the Fourth of July Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Championship, and will feature some of the best competitive eaters on the planet, including reining hot dog champion Patrick Bertoletti.

The winner of the inaugural Hotcake Eating Championship will receive a $5000 prize and the world’s first Norms Hotcakes Championship Belt, officials said, in addition to as many hotcakes they can wolf down in 10 minutes.

The restaurant chain says special care was taken in the design of its Vegas diner, offering an outdoor covered patio that provides ample sunshine during brunch, a large 207-person dining room with wooden booths, white tables and “pops” of the brand’s famous orange hue on chair backs and wall fixtures, and its signature illuminated “blade logo” that will look right at home adjacent to the Strip.

In addition to being the first Norms outside of California, it’ll also be the first to feature a full bar offering beer, wine, seltzers and specialty cocktails all day.

“The eye-catching U-shaped bar is lined with additional seats, and the space will soon be complete with on-site gaming options,” officials said. “Because Vegas.”

Early risers or late-night partiers can join the grand opening event on Nov. 9 at 10 a.m., and then enjoy some of Norms signature creations including NORMS Original Patty Melt or NORMS “Ultimate” Meatloaf, or sip on some hair of the dog in the form of Bloody Marys, mimosas or a “Boozy Cappuccino Slushy.”

Restaurant patrons who attend the grand opening between 10 a.m. and noon will also receive $10 off coupons and a free kids’ meal.
