EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) — El Paso County will be breaking ground on an infrastructure project that aims to improve wastewater service in four colonias in southeast El Paso County.

The ground-breaking ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 17 at 1557 Farm-to-Market Road 1110 in Clint.

The project is funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), which was passed to help local communities recover from the COVID pandemic.

“The funds are meant for addressing urgent public health needs and promoting community infrastructure development. The project is a strategic collaboration between the County and the Lower Valley Water District. The partnership will help kickstart the process of getting wastewater services up and running. In addition to aligning with ARPA’s primary goals, this project will benefit underserved communities in southeast El Paso County,” the County said in in its news release.

“The ARPA 1011 Lower Valley Area Groundbreaking is an example of how infrastructure
investments can drive an effective recovery from the pandemic’s impact,” the County added.
