Doña Ana County making offer to county manager pick

EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) — Doña Ana County may soon have a new county manager.

The Board of County Commissioners announced that they are making an offer to Scott Andrews, who was the board’s top choice for the job after what is being called a “rigorous interview process,” the County said in a news release.

Andrews has most recently served as the assistant city manager for Bakersfield, Calif.

“We are thrilled to announce the selection of a candidate who we believe will not only bring dynamic leadership, but also an infusion of fresh, innovative ideas to Doña Ana County,” Commission Chair Christopher Schaljo-Hernandez said. “Our mission was to find someone who could propel the County’s goals forward, while ensuring that our residents thrive and continue to enjoy a good quality of life. After a thorough and transparent process, and we are excited to share that Scott Andrews, Ed.D. is our choice to lead Doña Ana County into a bright and promising future.”

Andrews has more than 21 years of experience in various roles in the public sector including human resources, finance, parks and recreation, information technology services, economic development, community relations, and risk management, according to the County.

Andrews has a bachelor of science in business from the University of South Florida/University of Phoenix, a master of public administration from Strayer University, and a doctor of education from Argosy University.

The selection of the new county manager is contingent upon successful contract negotiations, the County said.

Once the Board of Commissioners has received the final contract, a formal vote will be held on Monday, Aug 19, to confirm the appointment of the new county manager.
