EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) — A 48-year-old man wanted for homicide in Colorado was arrested in Las Cruces this week after he was suspected of shoplifting at a Walgreens store, according to Las Cruces Police.

Police say Oscar Martinez, 48, from Denver, Colorado, was arrested shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, near the intersection of Roadrunner Parkway and Foothills Road after police were looking for a man who was suspected of shoplifting at a nearby Walgreens store.

Martinez matched the description of the shoplifting suspect and was arrested. After positively identifying Martinez, police confirmed he had an active warrant for a homicide that happened on or before Aug. 1 in Denver, Colorado.

Martinez is currently being held without bond at the Dona Ana County Detention Center until he can be extradited to Colorado, police say.
