EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) — A shooting suspect, described as a 52-year-old man, is currently at large and the Las Cruces Police Department is asking for the community’s help in identifying him.

Police say at around 2 p.m. on July 17, they responded to the 900 block of Melendres in reference to a vehicle crash.

The crash had gone through multiple yards before coming to a stop as the driver remained trapped inside the vehicle.

Officers arrived at the scene and found that the driver had been shot before the crash, police say.

Detectives believe an unknown make or model sedan, four doors, and silver or gray in color was involved in the shooting.

Law enforcement officials are asking anyone who has information on this case to call police immediately at (575) 526-0795 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Tips can also be provided through the Las Cruces Crime Stoppers app, “P3 TIPS.” The app is available through the App Store on most devices.
