#9OT high school football preview: Centennial Hawks

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico (KTSM) — The Centennial Hawks, led by head coach Aaron Ocampo, are looking to continue its winnings ways in 2024.

The Hawks were flying high last season. Centennial went 7-2 in the regular season and 5-0 in district play, which led them to winning the New Mexico District 3/4-6A title.

Centennial’s season came to an end in its first playoff game of the 2023 season when it was upset by Las Cruces High in the quarterfinal round.

This season, Centennial aims to fulfill expectations and take a step closer towards playing for a state championship.

“I tell our kids that I want when someone watches us play, I want them to be like, I love watching that team play. I love the energy and enthusiasm they play with. I love that I know they’re always going to play hard. That’s what I want to see with our team.” Centennial football head coach Aaron Ocampo said.

Centennial opens up its 2024 season with a game on the road against Cleveland. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. MT.
