‘Stone-cold assassination’ of Nicolas Morelos on ‘Dateline’

(NBC News) — Friday on “Dateline,” Josh Mankiewicz reports on the murder of a hard-charging boss in Arizona that uncovers a complex web of bruised egos in his professional life, and a trail of broken hearts in his personal life.

Here is a preview of Mankiewicz’s report:

It all began with Nicholas Morelos.

KRISTINA TREPANITIS : That’s the man I’m supposed to marry. And he’s just laying there, and he’s just full of bullet holes.

While Nick’s family faced the loss of a man they loved, investigators began to learn he was not beloved by everyone.

MANKIEWICZ : What do you think the motive was here?

PROSECUTOR JONATHAN MOSHER : Obsession and hatred, this is a stone-cold assassination.
