EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) — The El Paso Chamber announced that the Star on the Mountain will shine gold on Wednesday, Sept. 4, in recognition of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

The chamber says the lighting, organized in partnership with the El Paso Children’s Hospital, serves as a tribute to “the children and families impacted by pediatric cancer, symbolizing hope, strength, and resilience in the battle against this devastating disease.”

Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is dedicated to raising awareness of the effects of cancer on children highlighting the importance of ongoing research and advancements in medical care.

“By lighting the Star in gold, El Paso joins communities across the nation, honoring the bravery of young cancer patients, supporting their families, and advocating for the continued efforts needed in cancer treatment and prevention,” the Chamber said.
