    City Parks and Rec closing some facilities, changing hours for fall, winter

    EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) — With summer coming to an end, the City of El Paso’s Parks and Recreation Department said it is shutting down some outdoor facilities and changing the hours of operation for the fall and winter at others.

    Here is what they are doing, according to a City news release.

    Spray Parks

    All City-operated and City-maintained outdoor pools and spray parks will close Monday, Sept. 9. There are 10 spray parks across the city, including one at the Chamizal Community Park, the El Paso Zoo and a splash pad at San Jacinto Plaza.

    Outdoor and Indoor Pools

    The City’s only outdoor pool at Pavo Real Park has closed for the fall/winter season. The City’s indoor pools will remain open. The Parks and Recreation Department operates a total of 14 aquatic centers (indoor and outdoor combined).

    El Paso Water Parks

    The El Paso Water Parks are operated by Destination El Paso and include Camp Cohen, Chapoteo, Oasis, and Lost Kingdom. Residents can purchase their annual passes for the 2025 Summer Season by visiting EPWaterParks.com .

    Scenic Sundays

    Scenic Sundays promotes health and wellness by closing vehicule traffic on Scenic Drive between Wheeling and Robinson. Scenic Sunday hours will soon switch to fall/winter hours from 7 a.m. to noon starting Oct. 6 to March 2025.

    El Paso Municipal Rose Garden

    The Municipal Rose Garden, 1702 N. Copia, will close for the season on Saturday, Nov. 30. The garden is open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m through Nov. 30.
